Visitors must have a valid passport with an EVT (Entry Visa for Tourist) to enter Myanmar. EVT can be obtained at any Myanmar Embassy or Consulate offices with validity for 28 days and extendable if necessary. Application forms in duplicate with three-passport six photos are to be submitted with a fee of US$ 30 in their respective currency.
Tourist Visas and business visas are issued at Myanmar Embassies and consulates worldwide. All foreigners entering Myanmar must have a valid visa issued by the Myanmar Embassies and Consulates abroad. There are two kinds of visas applicable to Tourists:
Package Tour visas can be obtained for persons arranging tours through registered local tour operators and their agents abroad. FIT visas are for persons not making any arrangements for sight-seeing etc.: with local tour operator but prefer to explore the country on their own. All tourist visas are valid for 28 days with an option for extension.
Visa on Arrival will be suspended at the Yangon and Mandalay International Airports starting from 1st September,
2014 till further notice.
Visa on arrival is available to request through a travel agency.It is necessary to send your photo by email,
fax or by post.
To apply for visa on arrival, the information of the clients as follows is necessary:
Normally it takes about 2 to 3 weeks to get the approval, as all applications have to be send to Nay Pyi Taw
(the new capital).
You have to show the copy at the check-in counter for your flight to Yangon and also upon arrival at Yangon
International Airport.
Please bring also 2 passport pictures each with you. The Immigration at Yangon International Airport will issue
the visa for you.
